Please can I try again?
Could we please have a set of stamp categories which are copied from a major catalogue.
I don't care whether it is SG, Scotts, Michel or anything else but it would be great if it could be complete & correct.

I agree with this suggestion. I have had direct correspondence with Support about the categories in British Commonwealth who said that they intend to action this and would do so after actioning the other requests from the forum. The problem with British Commonwealth is that pre-independence issues are under British Commonwealth and post-independence issues are under the appropriate geographical location. The result was that many sellers listed everything under the pre-independence category. Support suggested a ghost category system so that pre- and post-independence categories would be linked. I have offered my help.
Some might ask why it is important to seperate pre- and post-independent issues. Many collectors only collect pre-independent issues (often across the Commonwealth) and it is tedious to scroll through many unsuitable items. Searching is not possible as many sellers do not include a date in the title.
Personally, I would greatly prefer Stanly Gibbons as the source of categories.
Well, of course you would, Tony. You are British. So would I, but I got it in the proverbial neck when I suggested this.

As I have said before (long ago), the counsel of perfection would be to structure the stamp categories on each country's eBid site in line with that country's standard catalogue. But the Best is the enemy of good enough. For the moment, if eBid were to create the categories in line with SG, there would, at least, be an appropriate category for every stamp and it would remove the random idiocies
I've no idea what proportion of sales are accounted for by stamps, but on the UK site the listings are 440,000 ish out of 3.2 million listings in total, on the current hot sellers list there are 6 who predominantly sell stamps and to get onto the front page of stamp stores you have to have over 4000 items in your shop. So stamps matter!
