An awesome fund raising effort, that continues to confirm the generosity of the eBid community, through YDC and participating charities.

Tuesday, March 18th, I'm scheduled to meet with the Director of Development for Suffolk Community College to deliver the check. Perhaps I'll get more information at that time. Will post any news here.
Just an update ... We met. We ate. I delivered our check.
I'm sure an official receipt will be forthcoming. In the meantime, let me share the email I received:
Hi Randa,
Here is the scholarship recipients information:
Brendan S.
Lindenhurst, NY
Brendan is a full-time student at the Brentwood Campus. His family was displaced after Super Storm Sandy and have spent over a year trying to rebuild. Their home was affected by an 11 foot surge of salt water that overtook their neighborhood. To make things worse a neighbor’s home oil tank was upended, spilled fuel and contaminated the property. Brendan and his family spent months working day and night cleaning up and the physical and emotional toll was unfathomable. At one point he thought he might have to withdraw altogether from SCC. Fearing looters and additional damage, the family returned home and lived in an upstairs bedroom with a portable heater while the downstairs remained gutted. His graduation has been delayed but he remains committed to completing and is currently taking 16 credits in hopes of graduating by next year.
The $1,500.00 raised through the EBid Auction will be a complete surprise to Brendan as we recently sent letters to applicants advising them that the fund was currently depleted. We have many more still hoping to get this aid and we are actively looking for partners to support them. Thanks to you for your generosity and know that it will make a tremendous difference.
With Deepest Appreciation,
Sylvia

Randa that is wonderful. The personal bit makes it even more exciting. (I feel I haven't said quite what I wanted to, but it is early)
What a great letter that really makes it feel that all the YDC effort is so worthwhile doesn't it, despite a certain forum member's comments in another thread !

i must have missed something
Hurry - that is phenomenal!!! It is heartwarming to hear about the individual that will be helped.....you did a most amazing job of organizing and supporting this, as well as obtaining matching funds, if I recall correctly. This relatively small act on y/our part will not only help Brendan with his educational goals, but be great moral support for his family. Thanks again for what you did, as well as the update!! xoxo
