Thread: Ebid forums on public domain...

  1. #1

Default Ebid forums on public domain...

I am wondering if we can make our forum posts private. I don't think they should be able to come up from a public search. Sometimes we complain or have a bad day or... Then if any person searches and that comes up it looks bad. The only other thing is to only write possitive posts on forums. I don't think that is realistic. Only make the great and positive public. Haha Don't think that's possible either. So, is it doable? I really think it should be changed if you can. I was very surprised when I first ran across what I thought was private forum remarks come up in a public search. Thank You for all your hard work. Someone please let me know if this is in the wrong place and where I need to post it if it is. Happy Sales to All

With the number of threads that end up being deleted i really wouldn't worry as before long there will be nothing left to read on here.

    Not going to happen.
eBid's own search feature on the HELP page makes use of Google search and therefore requires that the forum pages are indexed and available.
Besides, every single forum page that shows up in a search is one more way for a new user to find the site.

I believe there are settings on a forum that enable you to have a private 'members only' bit. Maybe admin could add a forum simply called 'Members Only' and people could keep rants to there? Probably won't happen though .... lol :-)

Quite true. The problem is what they might see when the find a forum page. There are so many negative posts that I wonder what impression they might get of eBid.

I'm sure this is true. I am a member of a society which has a "Members Only" thread only accessible via a password.
I would like to see such a section on eBid where all the negative sniping posts can be put. Any such posts in the open forums could then be deleted without the accusation of censorship.
