Thread: I'm a computer widow tonight

  1. #1

Default I'm a computer widow tonight

OH has been building computers for us, friends & family for at least 10 years now.

My PC has been temperamental for quite a while and it's about 8 years old. After I grumbled a lot last week he said: "enough is enough, I'll replace it". I tried to talk him out of it, because I think there is just some sort of windows/antivirus/flash/java conflict going on and I don't need anything more powerful than I have at the moment. But not having had a project for a while now, he was determined.

We got an email yesterday pm that the bits would be delivered today - his reaction: "good, a weekend project for me".

I haven't seen him since he came home from work apart from a hastily consumed meal and I was left to finish mine on my own.

I just hope he doesn't tear this one apart before I'm up in the morning - the HD and SSD from this pc are to be reformatted and put in the new pc. I'd like to do my daily listing before he takes this apart.

Been there and done that Marianne so I feel for you.

OH stopped over 7 years ago but he now has a 21' X 11' shed to repair machinery. LOL

I can compete with that. Woods, a cottage with a VERY large garden and a large barn about 200 miles from here. The barn holds all sorts of "treasures" to maintain the woods. Whenever we go down there I lose him to gardening/woods preservation/tree cutting....... Do I need to say anything else?

On the plus side, we produce loads of logs to burn in the open fireplaces - it's so nice to snuggle up close to a warm open fire - central heating rads just don't provide that "cosiness"

Your first paragraph sounds like heaven to me and a log fire is on the to do bucket.

I love it down there and do chip in - honestly!!
Xmas before last my present was a hydraulic log splitter!!!
I get involved with felling trees/branches, but only to pull a rope in the right direction. After felling, OH cuts everything into reasonable chunks and I split them to produce logs for our fireplaces.
No central heating though & some parts of the cottage can be very cold, depending on weather conditions.

Our cottage without central heating???? OH has just got back from Russia. He's now sat by a gas fire, 3 layers of clothes plus a fleece, central heating on and he's still cold! ROFLMAO Me, one thin jumper and very warm.

    I'm off to bed now.

My OH makes jewellery which covers every available surface except in the kitchen.

I can cook food, but nowhere to eat it
