Default Shows what you can do with 2 million listings

    Shows what can be done.

Here is the latest report on TM here in NZ

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/n...ectid=11205378

With only 4 million poeple in NZ and only 2,200,000 listings, they are making millions and are employing an EXTRa 50 people this year.

    A rather pessimistic article.

"Shares in Trade Me Group fell to a 19-month low, making the stock the worst performer on the benchmark NZX 50 Index, after New Zealand's largest online auction site posted lower-than-expected first half profit, raising doubts about its future earnings growth."

"There is going to be material downgrades right across the board for this year and for next year. It doesn't really look like the business is going to turn around any time soon especially with poor revenue growth and higher costs going forward."

I'm not sure why you are posting this here. Is there some connection between this site and eBid?

Trade me is an odd phenomenon. NZ is one of the few countries in the world where a home-grown auction site is more successful than the market leader.

I used to sell (and, just now and then, buy) there but they solved the fake overseas seller problem by banning all overseas sellers. Then they refused to refund my balance of fees paid. They are insular and impossible to talk to for anyone outside NZ.

To compare this domestic site with a captive audience (Nearest other country is 1500km and that is Australia) with eBid with international presence is meaningless.

I was just trying to show what can be done with only 2 million good listings.
    They support (pay) 300 staff.

Of course they also have very strong Jobs, Houses and Cars sections,

Yes it is a bit unfair of me to highlight TM as they did succeed in gettign in before ebay and have the NZ market (4 million) tied up.

But ebid has been going 14 years and has the potential of the UK market 60 million and the USA 300 million.
