    Default Symbols list for languages

I would find it really helpful to know the language character sets I can use when listing.

    Russian? Greek? Polish? Chinese?

Just had a problem with Як 24 which is Yak 24
Polish currency, złoty, pronounced zwoti is a continual problem

    Hi Bill
I know you like to be precise when it comes to language/alphabet but I have just looked up Як-24 on both a Polish and a Czech language web sites (couldn't find a Russian one) and both seem quite happy with Yak.....

I think one major problem with the web in general is that it is an English language based "system" and therefore one is losing foreign alphabets.... In some ways it is the same as all air traffic control conversations are always in English rather than in the airlines home language

You are right, I can be obsessive about being precise, and I like to respect original languages.

Як-24 is Russian, and I know that Yak would be acceptable, even to Russians on an English site.

The issue is not acceptability, it is that I like to be better than acceptable.

If the threads can cope with Як 24 and złoty, then the web itself can accept the language. It is the ebidloader which does not have enough code to read Russian, Polish, Greek characters.

I am not making a demand on Gazza to implement all world languages, but more support for languages would be on my wish list.

Putting a workaround character code, or where to get it, into a FAQ would be a good interim for me.

That is, I can check on the web that
    Я is Я
    к is к

so would I simply put Як instead of Як into an Ebidloader spreadsheet?
