Cincinatti chlli is always great......mix in lots of types of tinned beans (drained and rinsed well). Chop up some onion, add tomato soup, chopped tomatoes (tinned or fresh), garlic if you like it, and lots of spice............ie: cumin, oregano, cinnamon, chili powder, and a couple tablespoons of cocoa powder. A spoon of sugar and instant coffee crystals don't go amiss either, and give a nice depth. LOTS of cumin and oregano, some cinnammon, and however spicy you like with the chili. You can also be a Philistine and add a few raisins at the end.
    Ta-Ta for now!

Hi, one of my faves for the slow cooker is Caribbean Chicken, there are loads of recipes for this on the net, I tend not to use as much chilli powder as they suggest (less than half) and I like to add a bit of butter-nut squash.......ooohhh, me mouths watering!!! mmmmmmmmmmm!;-)

Just put chicken portions into the slow cooker and chuck on a tin of Cambells Cream of Mushroom condensed soup. Don't dilute. All the chicken juices will dilute the soup and make a wonderful sauce.

Brisket of beef is our favourite. Joint of brisket, chopped onions and a little stock. Succulent.

Oh! and how could I forget the Christmas Pud? The best ever. Cooked for around 18 hours which gives a very dark result. Lovely, and no steam in the kitchen. Just put back in on high for four days on Christmas Day. Or go to Aldi for their recommended one
Thats the way I've been doing chicken for years in my crock pot.
When I was a young lad my aunt and uncle had a 10,000 chicken farm.
Needless to say they ate lots of chicken, it tasted so differently then as compared to present day methods of cooking it.
This crock pot recipe has brought back the old chicken flavor that was lost to me for years.

Pork & sauerkraut is another good one.
After 24 hours the meat falls off the bone, leaving a wonderful taste.

I've found a way to make scrumptous rice pudding in a crock pot, takes a little watching, however no thickening and burning.
I also use them for keeping my epoxy warm, so many uses, I have 6 of them.

I use 2 crock pots in my cold frame, along with seed starting in the late winter..
So many uses for this low temp cooker.

One of my favourites (from the book I bought from anniemcc). serves 4. 1 kilo butternut squash, peeled & cubed, juice of 1 lime, several spoonsfuls of red thai paste and a tablespoon of demerara sugar. Cook on high for about 3 hours (the squash will start to caramelize). Add 200 grammes of raw prawns, a bunch of coriander (chopped) and 4 or 5 spring onions (chopped). cook for another 10 to 15 minutes & serve with thai fragrant rice.

As someone else already mentioned, venison also works very well and so does pheasant.

It's just the 2 of us now. I use mine once or twice a week and depending on what I'm doing I make 4 to 8 portions of food at once. The excess gets frozen and serves as a quick easy meal later.
