Why not just a random pick of any sellers who have made sales that week and rename it 'popular sellers'?

Ebid in general is where the "worthwhile amounts of items for sale" are - the buyers' do a Search and they get choices and they go into Stores if they're after a category.
Highlighting new sellers seems like a more sensible option but the criteria needs some working out - it would make more sense to only highlight new sellers after they'd had a chance to get established a little rather than as soon as they sign up so that they actually had some stuff for buyers to look at - also would it be for all new Sellers or just Seller+.

Not a bad idea at all but it would be essential to give each seller only one entry in the draw regardless of how many items they'd sold else we'd end up with a system that is mathematically very similar to what we've got now as the output would still tend to be the big sellers.
Yes re new sellers but there do need to be checks in place - there are far too many new sellers appearing with a few Ipads and Iphones for sale and a seller registered 2 days prior with 2 spare new iphones just looks questionable to me - but then no more so than an item on the popular items tab from a crossed out seller and there is one of those as I type!
It needs to be both
Newbies do have a small presence at the very top of the home page but blink and you will miss it
hot sellers maybe good for those particular sellers that manage to get on it and good at attracting other sellers to list but does it attract buyers?
What do new buyers/sellers look at when they come to this site? like ive said already in other posts ive be active here for approx the last 2 years yet im still learning new stuff about the site everyday.
It was only recently that i realised i could spend my buddy points on parcel tape!
