10am-11am: What happeneed?

Just got in, grabbed a brew and put the laptop on. When I logged on to my Google Analytics my views for today are 8-9am=0, 9-10am=5, 10-11am=16, 11-12pm=3, 12-1pm=5.

The demographics for today show that 50% of my viewings are UK, 37% USA and the rest from Russia, Italy, Philippines, Brazil and Zimbabwe.

One final thing is that the source was over 50% direct. Usually about 90% come from Google Shopping and Google.

That 16 in the hour from 10am is highly unusual, especially for a Saturday morning, evenings it can be expected. So what happened this morning that I missed?

Interesting details but I do not even use the analytic features; planning to look into them.

Could it possibly be that Google Shopping/Google Products/Google will be discontinuing certain of it's features soon? Possibly a warm up session for what is to come?

Not seen anything about Google Shopping discontinuing. They have recently made changes so I would have thought that they would see how they work out first.

The source points to a lot of extra views direct to my listings, possibly through eBid itself along with an increase in viewings in the USA. If that is the case it would be excellent news for all of us if this is happening across the site.

Sadly though none have turned into sales yet, though I do sometimes see the same visitors returning a few times prior to buying, possibly comparing to other sites before deciding.

This could be due to any number of factors. You currently have a selection of items working their way up the popular items tab on the front page - you may have had a particularly interesting one on between 10 and 11am drawing people to this and then other listings of yours - and lets face it, you do have a fair few items up for sale so it is not unreasonable to get a few additional views having got your buyer into one listing.

I also find that google product listing ads displayed within the main search is a cyclical thing - you tend to show for all relevant searches for a few minutes and then vanish for a couple of hours - I suspect this is one reason why I tend to sell 2 or more items in a five minute period and then nothing for a couple of hours - then the process repeats. Again this could be leading to additional item views when the potential buyer is in.

There could have been an Ebid article published or a mention on TV or radio - coinciding with items on the front page.

One or more of your many many products could have been featured or advertised.

Someone may even have just opened an item bought from you and tweeted how pleased they were with it or something similar.

I do hope you see an ever increasing number of views but more to the point that you get some sales from it.
