Thread: Why do our listings keep vanishing on Google Products ?

We all know that some sellers overprice their items. I have seen plenty of the 'I can't sell on eBid' threads where after investigation it has been found that they are trying to sell for 20%, 30% or more than they sell the same item for on eBay. It might not be good, but it is the sellers prerogative. Though I can also see where eBid are coming from as they pay for the clicks on these items but are unlikely to get any sales and FVF's from them.

I can also see ebids point of view having to pay google for listing uploads on over priced items.
I am also of the opinion that some sellers only use this site to advertise their items that are cheaper elsewhere.

I have also seen those threads, but have any of those sellers changed their prices after being given good advice on those threads?.

I do not believe that all sellers of high price items are over pricing, I would not like to see sellers of good high end quality, one off items caught up in the net just because of some sellers over pricing their items.

    Question
I have been known to tweet my items via google products search, would ebid be charged when tweeting my items that way?
If I read Gazza post correctly would that be a yes?

Yes I don't agree with this controlling prices syndrome.

Otherwise its just a race to the bottom, where no one makes any money.

It should be up to people to set their own prices.

    Then let buyers decide.

I often see huge variations on the same book on Amazon

Of course it is silly for seller to list the same item on ebid and then on an other site cheaper, but sometimes people are just too busy to check every listing.

I think it is more often the case that they are too lazy to check any listings. eBid provides the tools to do a mass import from another selling site into eBid. So why should they bother going through numerous listings editing them to adjust prices, take out links to the other site, tailor their listings to make the most of the new site's best methods, etc., when just a few clicks have all their old listings up and running on the new venue?

If you point them in any way to the listing on Google Shopping and they then click through to the actual listing then eBid will be charged. Far better to use direct links to your listings wherever possible. Quicker for the potential buyer and less chance of seeing something else to distract them.

You are probably quite right there. When I decided to come back last year I imported about 3k listings that way. (btw, you can do it from more than one other site - mine didn't come from "there") After some experimenting, I opted for making several changes in the lister prior to uploading and than making the rest of the changes using the bulk edit facility. Of course I had the advantage of knowing the "Ebid way" and knew beforehand what I wanted to achieve.

It is sellers who adapt that kind of an attitude who bring "alternative sites" in disrepute. "I come here with several K items, but I want it the youknowwhere way and/or I don't provide good customer service so I will use an alternative site" and bring them into disrepute as well.

Gazza, Quick question. I go away on a regular basis and put a holiday notice on. While I'm away I have internet access and normally relist items even though they are not biddable/buyable, because I want to try and keep my ending dates/times as brought as possible. Should I stop relisting items when they are not available?

If that were the case then eBid might as well get rid of the Holiday Notice.

Even if someone clicks through on your item when the notice is in place there is still the potential of a sale there on your return.

Hopefully not putting words into G's mouth, but what I believe he was saying is don't click through onto your own listings from Google Shopping as there is zero potential for a sale (you are not going to buy your own item) so that would be just throwing eBid's money away.

Though seeing as you have raised it...there might be a case for how long a Holiday Notice can be effective for. Over a certain time and you should probably have to close your listings.
