Well the Lacewing insect puts on quite a performance during its metamorphosis. They lay their egg on a thread like stem. There the larva eats up a bunch of plant lice (aphids), so they are called aphis lions.After it reaches full size, it spins a silk cocoon, totally around itself. It changes to an adult in two weeks. It then saws out a circular trap door on the top of the cocoon and steps out with 4 wings that look like spun glass.
