Thus, Jaguar Monaco = no show BUT Jaguar Monaco ebid = top of list. This item would be on Google page one when it was on ebay; perhaps we need a little more search optimisation for ebid items? Check your own all of you.

    Best wishes,

    Mike.
I just tried to Google your (1) Jaguar Monaco and then (2) Jaguar Manaco UK, and then (3) Jaguar Monaco ebid. Under Google Shopping, for (1), couldn't find you on the first 5 pages stop looking. For (2) - nada. For (3) Didn't show a link to any ebid. My search settings are for world wide, so I don't understand why I didn't even get an ebid anything to show. Go fig.

After that attempt, I Google ebid books. got results, I also type Three Pence ebid. Got results.

So how many buyers are going to google "xyz item ebid"

And I'd still like to see independent research on how buyers search.

How many of them actively use Google Shopping?

Here's a link to the latest stats on Google Shopping. Should show that their numbers for shoppers have grown!

    Thanks for that link.

You should pubish it in a thread about Google Shopping as well

To me, the chart shows a steady drop in Google Shopping conversion rates over the last few years.

A 2 or 3% conversion rate is not much incentive for an advertiser to spend their hard earned doh.

And as I said above, it would be nice to know buyers searching habits.

One way I can see someone getting an idea of the market on specific items is to use a keyword generator. Google and several sites offer one and when you type in a specific keyword, example ring, it will show how many searches are for that word. You can add additional keyword and it will show the number of searches for both those words, example silver ring,. As you keep adding your results is what will show for keyword searches. Of course the a smaller number of searches, example 80,000 show that these searches were done by a plethora of keyword search parameters which narrows it down to that specific keyword phrase. But over all you can use it to see how many people are searching for a product or products.

I personally will type in a generic keyword such as ring, then add silver, then add sterling or 925 and so on. Then I will look for the item is two tabs. One for web search and one for shopping. I use Google. The reason is one will give me the item by stores web addresses. The shopping search gives me the opportunity to search by price and shipping fees and free shipping and or location if needed.

I think with this consumers generation of "I want to see it and know about it quickly" will lead to more use of shopping platforms that show the image of the item up front. Most consumers do not like to walk around a store looking for a specific item. They like to know what isle it's in and go straight to it. This behavior will surely follow to the net. They want to see it up front, then decide if going for quick information is next. 50 percent of my own shopping is done like this now.

Google and the Bay have very grand ideas and I have to admit they are good ones. The Bay will capitalize on the auctions and major retailers and Google is getting their Google Wallet lined up because they are going to the way of the Bay and Amazon and will offer a shopping site under their banner. The big retailer will profit by dealing with both entities, although I'm sure that the two will try to hold exclusive contracts with some of the retailers.
