Thread: FeePay seems to be dying.

When a company forgets who their real customers are, they lose touch with what made them successful in the first place. ebay is grasping for listing numbers to show their shareholders. Smoke and mirrors. There is only so much smoke and so many mirrors.

Chameleon, you talk about November seeing the decrease in views. Mine started in April of 2012. I was alloted only so many views per month and sales per month. Which continued to decrease over time. I could see the writing on the wall that I was not welcome anymore. I stopped listing there and refuse to give them anymore.

As far as eBid making a push....I agree....Their time is now. I have believed that for months. How long is their window going to be open. If I owned eBid that is what I would be thinking.
They need to have the apps done. It will show eBid as an up and coming site.

I am happy to be listing here. I see real potential. But eBid needs to get to a point where it is a destination site for buyers. Not just through Google shopping.

Well they just don't treat ppl right! To take loyal ppl with good credentials who helped to build your company, and just ruin them by sell limits etc just isn't right. I've seen ppl saying they have lost their living. Corps have enough breaks. Lets hear it for the regular Joe!

No telling what they have in store for their site in the future. eBay is going to the Goliath in this type of business and it's going to take more than a sling and stone to bring them down.

Well…I think is dying too…no questions about, it’s almost gone….

Free listing that much...hmmmmm...maybe this is reason why that site jumps over 206 Millions listing items…in the last couple days….
So…as I see ‘’again’’ sellers hurry up and list on that site…’’why’’…?
    Why not come in here….?
I mean we are promoting eBid all around and word of mouth….various mails from ex-buyers…social sites...and so on…at least in the last 4 years many do that exactly…
And now is becoming little ‘’tricky’’ free listing in here free listing over there…
    But FVF it is not…!!!
And how we can ‘’explain’’ sellers who has bigger price items or items which we don’t have in here mostly to come here…?
Cheap…common…small items will be always gone more and more from that site because of FVF and even free listing fees is not going to help…that items will go out from that site day by day…
But other items and items from which new generations of buyers…younger fellows and so on looking to buy will be different story…
More of 4 years already pass how that site round up last higher fees and eBid is still around too in the last more of 4 years….
So…clearly questions remains ‘’which or what business model can change that once and for all’’…?

They were the market leader with first mover advantage for small sellers but they gave it all up to be a strip mall site. You’re right a 100%...
But I think you know already how business works…and if is not profit from any way you can make that profit your business will suffer and top of that profit must be shown constantly and again doesn’t matter from which branches of your business profit can come in the end it is profit in whole picture of particular company….
And that's is all matter...''the money''...

Actually, that's a drop from previous months. Last month is was 20,000 free auction style listings.

But the views and sales are definitely down from a year ago.

"eBay is going down & is finished"
"eBid is losing sellers & listing"
"eBay is grasping for listing numbers to show their shareholders."
"eBid are getting desperate because they are giving free listings away"

When have I heard all this before.

    Oh yes!

Heard it every year for the last 6 or 7 years

The one thing I can say about eBay/eBid is that when I left in November 2010 my sales on eBay were falling. Since I have been on eBid they have been rising. The way they were going on there and have been going on here I am probably at about the level on eBid now that I was heading for on eBay. The difference is that my fees are lower and I am confident that my sales will continue rising.

But the time is ripe for eBid to step up a gear. Many sellers on eBay realise that things are getting tougher over there, and that the free listings can, and probably will be taken from them before too long. It needs to get to the point on eBid where sellers can make a living on this site alone. To get there it needs a bit more from the boys. I am sure that they are doing all they can with the resources, but the app and API are becoming imperative. In addition I think more use can be made of press releases, especially when sales figures are rising. The more prospective sellers see the message the more likely they are to make the switch.

If eBay is dying it would be nice if it is eBid that can provide the fatal blow.

Tony, I have not paid as much attention recently, but in the past, the free listing days almost always came before their quarterly report.
As far as ebay being finished.....More than likely will never be finished, but they are transforming themselves into something that does not resemble the past. Is that good for the small sellers trying to make a partial living? I do not believe so. At least it was not for me. Not only that, but I saw the potential of what could have been. Sales increasing month over month. All depended on how hard I wanted to work. Then they changed something and my views dropped 60% in a matter of a couple of weeks. Over the course of months it did not matter how much I listed and how hard I worked nothing could change the path I was on. Could I still list on ebay and make money? Yes. More than I can make here right now. There comes a time for me when I have to take a stand against what I believe is corporate greed and do whatever it takes to keep the numbers growing. I refuse to list anymore on ebay. Does that hurt me....yes it does. But I am taking my stand here in hopes that more do the same.

The stand you are taking (not listing on eBay) is the one I took. Did I lose out, yes, am I losing out now, probably close between what I make and could make on eBay. But the future is looking far better. There is still a way to go for eBid, but if we can get a few more like you then we will get there a lot faster.

One of the things that eBay seems to have forgotten is that the smaller sellers are frequently buyers. My purchases on eBay have dropped from over £1,000 and at times as much as £2,000 a year to nothing.

I understand how hard it is for people to completely stop selling on ebay. I was somewhat in a position to do that. Still hurt though.
The only real issue I have with eBid is the lack of promotion. I'll bring up the apps again. I think that will give eBid some more credibility.
Positives.....Fees of course....I have found it similar in use to ebay.(minor learning curve)...People on here generally wish the best for every seller and are very helpful.....The one I found most refreshing (Everytime I have contacted support they have been very helpful and quick to respond) I can't say enough about that!
I just wanted to end with some positives because I believe I am on the site where I want to sell and help grow.
