Thread: Refund given - failure to complete contract / agreed sale

Jan, if I were sick and couldn't tell him how, my dear husband wouldn't have a clue how to deal with my eBid stores. He's a computer user and savvy enough, but probably wouldn't think of it or know how to get into my listings etc.

You sure must have been sick! My goodness. Glad you recovered.

I have the horrible feeling that I may have wrapped it and posted it to a customer by mistake?
But you are right, I did find the back of the sofa

    Very curious.

I don't know how some of you manage to track down this information.

It is remarkably easy really - one lead - couple of clicks and everything falls into place.

I can tell you an mildly amusing story.......

Got home from work one day last year - 2 sales.......... paid for, but the buyer has a strike through....... couple of clicks and I can tell why the buyer has a strike through, so e-mailed the buyer to tell him why he has a strike through and that I will send the items next day. Reply from the buyer 'how did you know the reason when I have been contacting support with no joy all afternoon'

So I then told him what I had found out in the space of a few minutes:

I knew both his addresses and that he was currently at neither.
I knew his telephone numbers for France and the UK
His wife looked stunning (I didn't tell him that bit)
I told him what his job was.
I knew his ebay username's, both of them.
He had a dog that wasn't very well
His daughter went on a first date the previous evening...
    etc etc etc

The reply back was 'WOW' and 'my daughter had told me she was at her friends last night, she is going to be in trouble now'.

Oops... A few days later I then received an email thanking me for my service and jokingly asking me whether his daughter had been behaving herself....

I do not have a tablet. Neither do I have an internet enabled mobile because I cannot even get a signal here for calls or texts.
However, in Jan 2012 (I was not selling on Ebid then), I had a kidney transplant. I explained to my wife what she needed to do and she contacted any bidders who were pleased that they had been informed and were prepared to wait the week or so before I could complete their orders.

I realize this is an older post but I just couldn't pass it by. Wow- I think I would have asked the name of the hospital so I could send him a card! To have had a heart attack and still take care of business the only way he could--I think is amazing and very considerate. Hope he gets better soon!

OK, Yes, Maybe I was a little harsh, but:-
Had I been in hospital having a heart attack, the last thing on my mind would have been contacting an individual buyer. I would have been contacting the forum / auction site directly and asking for my account to have been put on hold. This would have saved the 30+ other items I had listed needing individual replies.

I actually tried to contact the vendor after winning an item, as I noticed he had several other items of interest about which I wanted to enquire as to if he would hold until the various auctions had completed - and despatch such items as I may have won all together.

My gut feeling (Usually HIGHLY accurate) was that the item I originally won did not achieve the price expected, and a highly plausible excuse was made. See the thread - how many have actually expressed sympathy for the poor fella?

Google is a wonderful thing, or a dangerous one if someone knows how to really use it! I buy certain items, using the same name on various sites, it wouldn't have taken a genius to work out who the vendor was (Eh, Deano?)

Blackballs? Are for snooker... My money is as good as the next, if you don't want it, then fine, but I expect HONESTY & INTEGRITY at least.
