Thread: Knitting Pattern Sellers - Do you laminate?

  1. #1

Default Knitting Pattern Sellers - Do you laminate?

Have just received the following feedback from a river buyer:

Only 4 stars due to the fact that most sellers selling these types of pattern laminate them which help to keep them pristine. However, pattern as described and in good condition

DO most sellers laminate these patterns? Is it advisable?

No I don't but I only sell original patterns, did you mean laminate copy ones? none of the ones I have bought have been laminated either, just a A4 sheet

Buttons, you raise an interesting point.

I emailed the buyer and pointed out that SOME sellers laminate patterns in order to disguise the fact that they are photocopies.

If I'd laminated it she would have blerdy well moaned

    I only sell originals, too.

Well I wouldn't laminate an original one and i don't think anyone else would either, so I would say she is in the wrong and you are probably right she would have moaned anyway, would she exspect a B&M shop to laminate.

It never occurred to me to do that, though I can see a benefit - you can write on them with non-permanent pen

There is no way I could list my patterns as cheaply if I laminated them. Postage would also be higher.

It was the fact that she expected it to be laminated when not listed as such that annoyed me.

    Oh well, carry on regardless

    Thank you fellow knitters

I only sell original patterns too. Lamination would add to the cost. And would they expect archive quality laminate?

I had someone (on another site, obviously) complain that she thought she was buying a pdf! The item she bought was much too new for me to risk selling a copy under any circumstances.

Yes, I know the chances of being sued are slight but I don't want it to be me crying outside a court because I'm about to lose my home to pay damages and legal bills.

Knitwits, you can please some of the people some of the time and you can't make them read your descriptions.

    That's a very good point.

I have bought knitting patterns and none were laminated and I wouldn't have expected them to be.
