Thread: GGGRRRRR! I hate ebay!

They want you to list and pay Penni to get them back up and it's the only way you would be able to do it. I only do free listings as well and I have had a newbie give me 1 star all across the board as she thought that was the good mark, if you get me. ( she mailed me and told me what she had done ) Also had a friend ( long standing buyer ) doing everything on his phone and he messed up and marked me down on two stars by mistake, so I will probably be joining you soon, But I have had a good run with free listings so I don't mind paying for some that i know will sell there ( I hope )

Unless someone has really messed up, I always leave a complete set of 5* ratings because that is all I can do to mess up their system.

Does this bar you even with the new update? I didn't think the seller standards impacted the free listings each month. Or are you referring to the extra free listing days?

Actually, they do have a set of criteria for each seller level. And the DSR is for a rolling 12 months. So, if you have 100% for 10 years and have a "bad" couple of months and low sales you DSR can easily tank and so will your seller rating.

For me they increased my listing limits and then decreased the visibility of my listings. Tough to sell, if no one knows you are out there.

I too have a problem with ebay, but a different one.

For some reason they told PaYpal to hold my payments for 21 Days, although I have all the criteria for them not to do this, Seller for more than 90 Days, 100% positive feedback, above standard rating.

I phoned them to ask why, they could not give an answer other than they would get someone to look at my account again within 72 hours that was 3 weeks ago.

The same day I phoned, my sales stopped, and ehen I searched for my listings they were all at the end of very long lists. coincidence I don't think so.

What this thread does show is the total and utter contempt that eBay has for small sellers. It also shows that those sellers should be planning an exit strategy before they are either kicked or forced off. Obviously some of you are selling on eBid, but there are thousands without that luxury but who get hit by these petty judgements. I do not think that eBay realise that many of these sellers rely on the income they make on eBay and it can for some of them cause severe hardship.

I disagree, Ebay have been in business for a very very long time and they know exactly what they are doing and how it is affecting everyone. The investors are greedy and will do anything to line their pockets first before any one else does.

As I've alway said: Empires don't last forever, greed and contempt is just the beginning of the end.

To explain more fully what was meant: the word "average" is bandied about in general parlance and I wondered if this were the term actually used by ebay. Mathematically it may be a mean, a mode, or a median - and you will obtain three different answers.

I was reasonably aware of how the system worked but went back to look; whatever terminology ebay may use in a standard email, the word "average" occurs only once in the DSLR details, and then only for power sellers. They continually use the word "standard" which is, of course, quite arbitrary and it is not possible to evaluate how they arrive at it. It is possible to use their figures but the means by which they arrive at those figures seems shrouded in mystery and beyond question.

The interesting thing is, had they had this setup originally i wonder how many would have signed up with them. They are certainly ripe for a mass walkout. As Lenin said: " Refugees are people who vote with their feet."
