I'll be outside, standing on the walkway of our block of flats.

From there I can see fireworks and hear all the ships horns in Portsmouth Harbour.

I do this around midnight every new year

We will be with three other couples round at a friend's house having a meal followed by champers and fireworks. We have always taken it in turns to do the hosting since our children were little so I'm making the most of it this year as it's my turn to do all the cooking again next year !

We used to do loads of silly party games for the children when they were little but now it's just a bunch of very drunken adults still doing silly party games !

I'll watch the fireworks on TV which start at 8.30pm, have a few sherbets & go to bed.
Hopefully wake up to the new year without a headache.

If I thought the clicking over of the calendar would make the slightest bit of difference to the world, for the better, then I might celebrate it. As it is, it is just another day; no different to the one that precedes or follows it.

Mind you...I view Xmas and my birthdays in the same way.

Dr's 11.10 am, chemist and then bed. I've had a sore throat since Christmas day and can't even drink water without pain. On the plus side ther new year diet should get off to a great start.

Hope 2013 is a better and healthier one for everyone
