FREE shipping is it really free...I dont think sooooooo

I recently purchased a composter for my garden from Amazon...(none on ebid)
It cost me $260.00 and I didn't have a problem with that.it was of excellent quality.
I noticed an increase in the price of this item in recent months, since they established (free shipping)
Reviews on Amazon were squawking about it, understandably so
This was an item being sold by a company under Amazon's program.

It is my opinion anyone offering free shipping MUST have shipping fees included in the total cost of the item/s.
I tried it once, however I came to realize most buyer's want to know what the actual charges are for shipping...

Or if I was making say a profit of $2.00 an item, sold 200 items, I could then eat the shipping fees,
however that would still decrease my overall profit..would this make any sense in a business world?

Shipping fees HAVE to be included in the price when you offer free shipping. Common sense

We had a trail of free shipping over there, and generally lost orders. Most of our popular lines are very low value, and can me bought in multiples

For example a stainless D Shackle costs about £1

If we offer free shipping we have to increase the cost of the item to £1.80. If someone buys 10, that becomes very expensive as it costs us no more to ship

So we have reverted to show shipping costs, with very low additional item costs. And I think we are doing better

Having said that, still no sales here, and everywhere else has gone very very quiet over the last two months

There is no such thing as free shipping. It is either added to the cost of the item, or taken out of the sellers profits. For me the total cost of an item is the important thing. If it is £50 with free shipping or £40 + £10 shipping it is going to cost me the same. In that case I would look at the seller or whether I was getting a better shipping service. If the total cost is cheaper for one they are more likely to get the sale.

Look at overall cost of item. I have from time to time, actually received an item at a ridiculously low price, because no one bid against me. Then the seller also sent said item via free s/h. That happens only if you are dealing with a very good seller, that honors the terms of their auction.

Of course shipping is included in the price,
this is just the begining of a Christmas advertising war with eby.

I was offering Free Shipping for a while but when I took my packages to the Post Office they demanded money for shipping. I explained I wanted the Free Shipping method but they looked at me kind of strange so I ended up paying them to ship my packages. Strange, go figure!
