    Default Bank transfer payments

Hi i've had someone ask me if i'll take bank transfer payment instead of them sending cash. they've asked for my account number only is that all they need and is that bacs or not i'm not sure.

i'd love to beable to offer that way of payment for some people especially rather than going through paypal. to save on fees. please anyone tell me what and how to do and offer this thanks safely.

On those occasions that I have used it I found that a bank sort code was also necessary.
However, it should only be used with those people you know and trust. Although you give away the same details when you pay by cheque, it seems that certain people have found ways to use the information in illegal ways. In addition, there is no way to prove what payments are for. Buyers might find that sellers say "Thanks for the gift" and refuse to send any goods. On the rare occasion it is necessary, it is also almost impossible to get money back again.

Search for other threads on this topic and you'll find out why I do not use this method.

thanks all was just checking out for me i'd never ever do that i was more worried about chargeback like they do with paypal. if i can save money on fees and such i'm very happy to send it that way i can send it the cheapest for me and them instead of having to use special delivery all the time as it's putting people off. i'd also then beable to offer abroad more as i wouldn't then have to get tracking and proof of delivery then as that's what's put me off offering items abroad in some cases £10 postage before you start.

    thanks all

There may be fees and/or delays involved if the two banks concerned are not both within the UK.

oh that's a shame i've had to stop selling most of my items abroad because of the high postage and because of having to have tracking these days because of people saying they haven't gotton their item which i know is the biggest scam going unfortunately. thankfully i've never been caught this way always one step ahead but i feel sorry for those genuine people who are having to pay stupid postal prices because of a few rogue people who want everything for nowt. hurts the honest people. money is tight and we all want a bargain but nobody really wants to pay much more for postage than they can afford and i can't afford to be giving things for free. i'm not rich at all.

If you really want to use BACS open up a savings-type bank account [one that can't have DD or SOs] purely to receive these type of payments. No way should you use your present personal account.

i did this with Citibank and have had no problems with it. I offer BACS type payments on all my listings - but for UK buyers only.
