Well getting back to the point I do agree with what was originally said here about ebid, but as Maely said we are getting there slowly I think.
As for the books thing, have to agree that its just getting to be a no go to sell them online anymore. I have taken a lot of mine down too and am also having to downsize my collection in my flat. I had so many books before my home was like a library, book cases in each room, with different subjects.
I cant believe charity shops would throw out the book like that old Victor Hugo one! I wouldve snapped it up too, I alsways collect old books and always will. I will be keeping mine for sure. And also I was in charity shops yesterday, one of them had a sign on the door saying"books urgently needed, especially paperbacks" So I will deliver some. And cant believe that patronising lady said "People dont read books any more dear" well thats proven wrong already by those of us who have posted on this thread and I will add my name to the list. I havent and dont want a kindle.
As for getting rid of books I think HM is right, and I believe in the future people are going to regret getting rid of so many books as I believe the need for them will return along with collective value of course. The kindle is a new invention, the book has been around for ever

Lack of information is dangerous, not information itself.
I've always had a thing about those books we can never read because of that fire too!

Charity shop volunteers are just that - volunteers. The sorting is only as good as their knowledge. I've helped in a shop in that past & am about to start helping my local hospice. Having cleared 2 houses after deaths and spent a lot of effort and spoken to a lot of experts, I've pretty good instincts but no-one knows everything.

Our hospice has a very knowledgeable book volunteer and his words, after experience, were "Good books don't sell in the shops. They come back after the allowed time on the shelves tattered and worth less". Unless a charity has a book shop, they will struggle to make good money on anything but the most popular of books.

    Right behind ya, Sis.

I have a theory that those who destroy books have a serious fear of knowledge, not sure why...

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Because book burning has always been a symbol of attempts to control thoughts.

    Pagan theology

Paganism is not based on doctrine or liturgy. Many pagans believe 'if it harms none, do what you will'. Following this code, Pagan theology is based primarily on experience, with the aim of Pagan ritual being to make contact with the divine in the world that surrounds them.

I wonder if this is why the Church and State are not keen on Pagans.

I know that the word 'pagan' means different things to different groups of people.

For some Christian groups it means 'non believer in Christianity'

For some people it means 'non believer in what I accept as religiously true'

Modern paganism in the UK (or neo paganism) was invented in the 1950's following the repeal of The Witchcraft Act. One example of neo paganism is Wicca.

In the 1970s, Wicca was notably influenced by feminism, leading to the creation of an eclectic, Goddess-worshipping movement known as Dianic Wicca.

Well I am not a book buyer so I don't know, but I do buy a lot of beauty products and when I say that the majority of sellers on here have outrageous prices on their items it's no joke. I have items listed at $.99 and I'm not getting any bites so I can't imagine selling an item way over retail value and getting any sales. Especially from a not so familiar place. When I am looking on here and I see $30+ dollars for a tube of lipstick that I really don't know where it's coming from my jaw just drops.

Quite so, pink barbie. And when sellers won't then pay out the 2% for a gallery picture to list their over-priced objects, well............

I'm in the UK and so I can only see some of the lipsticks you are looking at but all the expensive ones are premium brands and the prices are comparable with other websites.

P.S. and I've just looked at your listings, pinkbarbie. I would remove those very low starting prices before someone takes you up on them!!! being outbid is unusual on eBid, so make sure you start the listing at a price you would be happy with.
