I just was the target of a scam! Be cautious of this type of sale request

This might be a stupid question, but I don't get the scam. If they asked you to send them a Paypal invoice how would that scam you? I send invoices after auctions end. I just don't get it, unless they are asking you for your pin number or password I don't get how that would work.

Buyer pays via Paypal and wants item shipped to Nigeria instead of their home address registered with Paypal (in this case UK)

Person in Nigeria receives item and informs the buyer.

Buyer opens dispute with Paypal stating they did not receive their item and demands a refund.

By sending an item to an address other than what is registered on Paypal, the seller has no protection and will invariably have to cough up the money to pay back the buyer.

Seller will be out of item and money.

I had this one when I started selling online I would never send a item of this value aboard i do not think many seller would and as we all know pay pal are always supporting the buyer so you would lose big time unless you are a friend of mine this week responded to one of these emails saying she had won loads of money so she put her account number bank sort code and pin number and lost over 4k in a matter of a few minutes and the bank will not pay her back as this was her error and she is thick I would agree with this

I had this happen before. Nigeria, friend over there, gift to them etc. I played along just to see what they would do. An "official email" from pay pal saying the money was in my account was sent to me. They had a transaction # and the whole bit. I contacted pay pal and there was no payment and the transaction # was a phony. I emailed the scammer and told them to go have sexual relations with themselves (to put it politely) as I did with this on as well.

I've had three this week - none re Nigeria though. The last one wanted to give me MILLIONS that was left to me in some woman's will! They were told - and not in a polite fashion - to go forth and multiply. I've had it with being being polite to these scumbags!!!
