Q. Why did the chicken cross the road?

A. To avoid the taxman.

Any government has to raise a certain amount of money via taxation to cover what they want to spend (usually waste). That taxation has to be placed somewhere. If not on one thing then on something else. So, even if they backtrack and don't implement this revenue stream, they will just create another revenue stream - maybe on something that you buy more often. The taxman always get his money.

But it's eggstreamly frustrating that the poorest have to shell out again for a hot bird!

But, surely, 'the poorest' would roast their own chicken - rather than pay a premium for someone else to do it for them.

Not saying I agree with the tax (I hate taxes as much as anyone), but this "It's an attack on the poor."' mantra is trotted out too readily.

It's a (knock me down with a feather) attack on the knobs as well I suppose.

At least they can eat Duck, Grouse and Pheasant while peasants have to scrimp a little more tax together.

I just asked mike had the one he go yesterday gone up and he said it had gone to over £5.00 now, was just over £4 last time we had one, The other thing is how much electic does it take you to roast one in a proper oven. Any way I think we have all been chickened to death lately, fed up of seeing, chicken this, chicken that and chicken the other, seems they can't make a ready meal without chicken, getting a bit sick of it now.
