    Default Holiday notice?

I've been watching an item for a while (several weeks at least).

It's a BuyNow auction and it says

"The seller of this auction has placed a Holiday notice on this auction. BuyNow is currently not available. The notice can be seen just above."

The notice isn't above, though.... (I've seen listing where there is an actual Holiday Notice but there isn't one on this listing that I can see...).

The seller last logged in on the 26th so I'm not sure what's going on?
I haven't messaged the seller as I'm not sure what to say? Unfortunately, no-one else on here sells the same thing and I'd rather save 60p and spend on here rather than go to a chain store in the city centre...

    Any ideas?

If you really want to know what's going on, my advice would be to message the seller regarding your interest in the item, as he/she is the only one who can know for sure what's up with the listing. Maybe write something like: "I saw x item and I'm interested in buying it. Is it currently available for purchase? If not, can you tell me when it will be available for purchase?"

If the seller is around, this should get his/her attention. If not, hopefully you'll be able to find the item elsewhere.

    Oh and welcome to eBid.

Good luck and best wishes for many sales to all,

Would you do this through the "Ask seller a question" button?
I don't want to look like an idiot if it is posted onto the listing.....

ETA: The listing has also re-posted several times which is making it more annoying because I get the emails but can't buy it!

The Question will be shown on the listing.
It could be the seller has forgotten they've put a holiday notice on.

What Gothicina said; it could be an oversight on the seller's part. Use the Q&A in the listing, it's never stupid to ask a question, especially when the answer is unclear.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

It certainly looks silly but luckily I've bought it now (the answers say something like "It's available and of course you can buy it!")

I feel awful about prompting someone but I've been waiting to buy for weeks and I desperately need it now!

Don't feel bad, it's not your fault the seller had a holiday notice up. Glad this worked out for you.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

With the forgetfulness of mere mortals, maybe it would be useful to have the option to set the duration of a Holiday Notice. So, if you know you are going to be away for a fortnight, you could set it to 14 days; after which it would automagically switch off.

Now that's a good idea Astral a timer to set the number of days would be good. I've come across sellers in the past that have forgotten to take their holiday notice off so you are not alone glynish !
