Default Ex Ebay Vet Additional Proof Of ID What Other Forms Besides those listed can one use?

I recently made the big switch from Feebay to Ebid. I have been with ebay for many years, but they no longer support the hard working sellers like they should. Case in point, why does ebay allow the winner of an auction to pay for an item when it has already been offered to a second chance buyer (the one who lost due to non extension of auction time) and paid for by them through their own company owned paypal?

This recently happened to me. The high bidder, who by the way had a feedback rating of 500+ as a buyer was either feigning ignorance by telling me she didn't know what to do, or it was an excuse to stall on paying, as she didn't have the money together even after 10 business days, or she thought she had paid too much, (bidders remorse).

So after not hearing much from the high bidder after waiting nearly 10 days, I contacted and sold the item to the 2nd chance bidder using ebay's own "Offer Item To 2nd Chance Bidder" 'FORM'

Well long story short, the high bidder then paid after she saw I had sold it to the second chance bidder, and when I told her it was too late, and immediately refunded her money, she left negative feedback on me stating, and I quote,
"Seller Took My Money And Sold To Someone Else"

Now why would ebay allow an item that has sold to the 2nd chance bidder, to also be sold AGAIN to the non paying high bidder? shouldn't they lock any other payment on identical item out??? I think it's because they are either not too bright, and failed to consider this scenario, OR, and this is the most likely explanation, they are SO GREEDY, they just want to get as many fees as possible into paypal in case one has to be refunded.

So when I contacted ebay about having the defamatory feedback removed, they said they couldn't do anything about it, and I would need a court order to have it removed. Well that was the last straw. I then opened an account on not only Ruby Lane, but also here at ebid. I have already sold 3 items through Ruby lane with no problems, but now after listing a few higher priced items here on ebid, I'm being asked to provide further proof of identification, namely a utility bill no more than 3 months old. Well, I live with my elderly father, and all the utilities are in his name. I do have an account with DirecTV and alarm company, etc, but no other utilities at the moment.

So my question is, what other form of Id may I use.

I know about the importing feedback thing from ebay, but because of the way they have treated me an established seller (and millions of other sellers I might add) I have taken my time in paying my last bill, upon which they "suspended" me due to non payment of my last bill. So importing my feedback wont work until I pay the over $400 which I owe them for last month. I will eventually pay, but right now times are tough, and I will need some time. They don't even give you the option to pay it out over a few months...A great site eh?

Well thank you for any help, and looking forward to getting the info to allow my two auctions to be relisted here on ebid - Texantiques

Ebid requests certain types of info to help prevent different types of fraud and scams here. What they choose to accept as forms of ID is up to them, and nothing to do with us users of the forums.

However, I'm not sure I would go advertising all over that you don't pay your bills to auction websites......if you used the site, you owe the money. If you sold items to incur such a large bill, you must have some money from sales to pay it. I wouldn't expect ebay or any other auction site to let payment of what is owed to them to slide.for a few months. I doubt you would let a buyer not pay for a few months.....................anyway, as I said, it's up to support, and if you have a question, you need to deal with them about ID accepted.

Well it was the principle of the matter. And I'm NOT behind a few months on paying ur majesty. They suspend after only a few weeks. I have been with them since almost the PEZ days if you know what I mean. And yes, they will get paid, but I don't appreciate being called a thief and letting it STAND on the feedback forum, so I thought I would "live-up" to the brand.

No shame in this economy being behind a bit. If I were a large bank I would be bailed out by the govt.

Banks do seem to have the system sussed out.............
And I agree that the system where you made a second offer and it was accepted should have negated the original purchaser then coming in to buy. They need a way to make sure one transaction is closed before another (2nd offer) starts. One problem with that is they'd have to figure out the difference between people selling a one-off, and people who give out second chance offers like hotcakes because they have a bucketfull of the items in the back room.........it could be done, tho.....

I am in the same position as not having household bills in my name, as live with a parent how owns the palce (all bills therefore in her name) and I recently listed an expensive item on here. Having said that, before listing I asked Ebid what they would need from me to "up" my account. I explained my situation but said I could always send a scan of my passport and a recent bank statment in my name, They said that as I have over 1000 feedback I would 99.9% likely not need to send any (and that turned out to be the case), but that if I needed to send any extra ID that would be fine. So, I would offer anything official/ish that you *do* have, and email them explaining your situation. They should get back to you fairly pronto (they are good like that ) - support @ebid.net.

On fleabay I never do a second chance offer unless I have closed the first transaction first (unpaid item dispute process).

    Hi and welcome to eBid.

Agree with HM and Dark, do contact support re: ID verification; it's a standard eBid policy to ID newbies who list high ticket items, in order to protect all eBid members. Support should let you know what forms of ID they require and should likely process your documents in short order, then you can list and relist away.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Just a little bit of info for you - if you had followed the correct course of action - and opened a Non Paying Bidder report, that would not have happened as the first bidder would have been prevented from purchasing after a set time period. They also would get a strike on their account and if it proved to be a pattern, end up suspended.

Take it on the chin, because you ain't gonna sell on here like you did on eBay.

Been on here for over two years and had 13 sales. Just closed out my listings as a waste of time. Will try something else in time on here.

12 months on eBay - 9000 sales. (not on there now selling though - moved on to better things)

Well, you certainly won't have to worry about a $400 bill for fees here
