    Default New to eBid

I am in the process of signing up to eBid. For years I have been with eBay.
Recently, due to a bad experience of a buyer and eBay taking his side, instead of hearing me out, I think the time has come to look elsewhere. I would be interested to know if any members on here have also been registered with eBay. Personally, I find they side with the purchaser, rather than being fair and hearing the seller's side of things.
Anyway, enough of that. I hope to be up and running soon. My interest is mainly clothing, both buying and selling my cast offs !

Welcome to eBid. Many people on here are former or indeed current eBayers, myself included. You will find that eBid will listen to both sides of the story before making a decision, and it will not be some automated reply you recieve, so you should find that side of things a refreshing change.

I also sell clothing, and currently have the 2nd highest UK listings in that category. What you will find is that sales are a lot slower here, though the flip side is that you keep more of the money and have fewer repeat fees such as listing and store fees. What I did when I moved was to drop my prices by around 5%, this still left me better off but also gave something to the buyers as well. If you are still selling on eBay then my personal recommendation would be to continue to do so and use that to help build your customer base on eBid. Whenever you sell on eBay, put a flyer in to let your customers know you are also on here but with lower prices, build things up and then cut the ties with eBay later.

If you ever need advice, especially in the early days, just start a thread on the forums, somebody will always give you advice.

Glad to see you on here, especially in clothing to build it up a bit more, and hope you make a good go of things on eBid.

Hi Onemore2, welcome to eBid. Was registered with the Bay, but no longer sell there. Many moons ago, I found I received fair treatment as buyer or seller over there. In more recent years I have found they side with the buyers, and they have many policies in place that are not seller friendly.

With that said, I know there are still people here who use the Bay to buy or sell. If they can get it to work for them, so be it. I found that no matter how much you sell, the profits are largely consumed in fees. So what is the point? Wasted energy. Would rather make sales, where fees are low or zero. Would also like to see sales increase on eBid. Brisk sales, and low fees, is the way to go.

If you are serious about selling on eBid, I would recommend that you come on board as Seller + Lifetime member. I have not lost one pence in doing so. Best to you on eBid.
