Yikes Al, good thing you're OK. Have an extra large tequila on the house.

Wyo, sounds like you have a lot of wildlife in your area, how lovely! When I lived in NY I saw a lot more animals (raccoons and skunks mostly, but the occasional fox and also many hawks and owls) than I do around here, but I lived in the country then. Oh for a bit of rural scenery just now or anytime.

    Cheers,

Al, I winced when I read that. And it's just the sort of thing that could happen to me wandering around as much as possible without footwear. (barefoot in the snow has been known to happen)
We have a lot of foxes in the area, but then they have learned that where there are people, there is easy food, so who can blame them? I can hear a lot of birds, but don't really see them till later in the year when they come for the food. Right now they are not interested. As I mentioned food, I need my cup of tea (the others can have microwave coffee) and I have made a loaf of bread. See you later

Good morning! Think I'll pass on the microwave coffee but thank you.

Morning all, hope everyone's doing well today. Still anxious about Mom, but trying to stay positive and remember healing takes time and as long as things are moving in the right direction (knock wood) that's the main thing.

Will be listing YDCs soon, waiting for some sunshine and for the hamster issue to get sorted; apparently listing has been a problem for many folks of late, hope it gets sorted soon.

Had some Combos the other night, put the extras outdoors for the birds. This morning I see the squirrel is hard at it already; guess this proves my theory that the wildlife around here really will eat anything (much like their human counterparts).

    Cheers,

I think we're done feeding the birds here. Have two feeders and they empty in a day. Spilled seeds sprout weeds all over and bird droppings are a mess.
Think we will just get a couple bird houses and see what moves in.

Meebo welcome back, what a relief you havent left us, was getting really worried there.
Well I'm late checking in this weekend as another crazily busy day yesterday and didnt get chance to check in. I ventured out to get some needed supplies at one point, boy did I pick the wrong moment I literally got drenched to the skin on my bike, went right through the so called waterproof trousetrs too, yuk.
My daughter and her boyfriend were coming over for breakfast this morning (they are on a flying visit from London, due to move to Dubai next month too)
my daughter Simela always likes Mama's cooking and baking so she had requested something I havent done in quite a long while. We used to have home made croissants every Saturday. They are not like the regular ones you buy in the shop, she absolutely loves them, we all do. Used to make them with home made jam but dont have all the equipment any more, nor the garden with the fruit. Anyhow the recipe I used is from an old French cookery book, but the process takes literally hours and is hard work. I always prepared them the day before, ready to shape and bake the following morning. So had them today, they were still a great success thankfully and more filling than the shop ones as they are more dough than pastry but with lots of butter worked into them!
There are a few going spare still if anyone fancies a very late breakfast? lol

Ps love the bird stories and the beautiful photos Sues

LOL Al! Sal, that sounds lovely, glad you and your daughter had such a lovely visit. Am feeling horribly guilty now about not being there for Mom but Dad says I make her nervous, so I'm keeping myself tucked away here for the time being. I know I shouldn't feel this way but I can't help it, maybe that's why I enjoy the birds so much, they make me forget everything else for a little while. Update: they ate all the Combos and about half the seed I put out an hour ago, talk about a hungry bunch.

Speaking of hungry, I'd be happy to take any extra croissants off your hands. I'll ever let you play with kilt man, as long as you return him in his proper lying down position.

    Cheers,

    Hint, hint! Nudge, nudge!

Ouch about your foot. Incredible that the splinter should have been in there for so long. And it's amazing you have managed to get rid of it (and the infection) and be ok again.
I though I was done with this a year ago but when it showed up this past week I was surprised.

Hi everyone, I've been catching up with my lawn. I've scarified it twice to start with, mown it with roller, mown it with hover, scarified it again, cut the edges and now I've just scattered fresh seed on it - and the rain just started moving in as I was finishing. Perfect timing.

Oh, and I've also drilled some holes in concrete edging for drainage - and smugly watched as water drained away - oh lol! life is good sometimes!
I used some gypsum pellets instead of aerating/scarifying. It's supposed to soften the soil making everything easier to grow. First time I ever used it and wherever the pelletts landed there were holes in the ground so I think it worked. If we ever get any rain I'll let you know how it worked!

I heard the ducks again this morning. I googled Ducks and found the black ones are Cayuga ducks (named for the place in New York). I planned to sew today, so bye! Everyone have a nice day.
