Why would that be *worse* than hacking you off to the point of such deep unhappiness that you leave... what, you're not going to tell anybody they did that? No, sorry, don't buy it. I'd have to think the main reason is: they make more money doing it.
Bad publicity is still publicity - what's needed is a viable competitor to make em sit up and take notice.

Yes they make more money in interest by holding loads of peoples money (mine stands at £85 at the moment) £30 of which should have been released two days ago.

I wonder if the next pit stop (21 days hold) will pass with the same result.

If PayPa kicked all small sellers out they would lose a lot of the big sellers' customers. Very unlikely to happen,

Although I don't beleive it, I can understand eBay might not want the little people, PayPal, however, do need them
PP could also 'ASSIST' ebay in getting rid of sellers from their site.
Small sellers may move on but they are likely to keep their paypal account!

Pink, threaten both Ppal & that other place with your financial/banking ombudsman, that usually works like a laxative & gets things moving.
If not, follow up & make a formal complaint to same.

I would jump right in and report this issue to your financial/banking ombudsman. It is about time PayPal was forced to comply with the same regulations as banks, especially regarding transaction fees and this would do away with their greedy 3.2% on top fo the flat rate fee of 25p per transaction. I am the type of person who would take no nonsense from PayPal (who like to make it up as they go along thinking they are untouchable) so if I ever had a problem with them like you are having, the financial ombudsman would be hearing from me and I would also inform them of their ridiculous and unfair policies, terms and conditions and business practices which I'll be doing this anyway as their fees are just ridiculous and sheer greed, especially when they make a profit from the interest on the money you leave in your paypal account. They make more than enough profit without having to charge 3.2% on top of the standard flat rate fee.

PayPal and FeeBay will go extinct because of their own doing, but it will be people like me who are throwing the asteroids at them in the form of financial ombudsman and MP's.

Sorry but I thought in your opening rant you said Paypal were wanting you to close the PP account. Must be my mistake

By holding onto your money, Paypal can make extra interest by lending part of their balance on the spot market. It's not sinister. It's just profiteering and they should be prevented from doing it to excess (all banks do it) by users consistently reporting such behaviour to their national regulators. This costs the bank money and the only way to change their behaviour short of legislation (which we can't do) is to make it expensive to carry on in this way.

I know this might be a daft and obvious question, but have you phoned them up?
