a small child may hurt an animal by accident, but they can learn what it means to be hurt and that animals need to be treated gently. The kittens are certainly where they are loved now

Poor little thing he has had his last squeaky toy thrown out because he chewed it to a dangerous level and I didn't want him to swall the squeaky bit in the middle or we would have had one silly sounding dog LOL.

Fudge tends to be the destructive one when it comes to toys, Whisper just wants to play, I've found the more expensive heavily woven ones with a squeaker in, seem to survive better indoors.
On our walks I only use the cheap plastic ones, as they sometime lose them, or get them taken from them by other dogs & they are not always returned, or returned working.

Children aren't cruel to animals in homes where it is not allowed!

The child's father seemed to think it was funny, I wonder if he'll feel the same when it takes a dislike to its younger (about 2 I think) brother & throws him downstairs?

Accidentally hurting is one thing & that's why young children & animals need to be supervised, but being allowed or encouraged to harm doesn't bode well for the future of the child.

She was talking about rehoming the mother too, but at least an adult cat has the speed & ability to get away, or the weapons to fight back if cornered, & if it was really bad would probably just move out & find a new home.

I haven't managed to get a photo of them all together yet, but here is Monty & Wynnie.
Monty is not asleep but he seems to have sensitive eyes & fast reflexes he hates the flash,
& I haven't yet got a picture of him when it wasn't needed.

It is now generally accepted that those who are cruel to people often start with animals. It seems that really nasty people pick on the weakest available target. My friend who is heavily involved with Cats Protection says that she always phones Social services when she removes cats that have been ill-treated and warns them to keep a close eye on any remaining children.
