Default Wish someone would auction an Olympic ...

Torch to sell on eBid. Not giving any links but one has just gone for £150,400.00
Think what an auction like that could do for eBid's publicity.

Edited to say the money is going to a Cornish Charity. How lovely.

Friday we plan to go take pics as it makes its way through town. Have never been that close to the Olympics before, so it should be something. I imagine many people will be there, and there will be kids groups singing, etc. So, quite a to do!
    Ta-Ta for now!

How about auctioning a photo of the torch for YDC? Those of us who can't see it might make good bidders, hint, hint...

Bows and misses the kitties, outside chasing whatever they find.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

    I just looked over there.

I must say it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
It's an abuse of their position in my opinion.

Donations to charities on some listings are none existent, on others it's a measley 10 to 15%.

    Disgraceful!

Sorry you feel like that Pink. The seller has decided to give this huge amount to charity rather than keep the torch as a memento that would probably just sit in a cupboard or be an ornament on her sideboard. If I had been lucky enough to carry the torch, I would rather a charity benefitted from me selling it as well. The money is a life changing amount and will do so much good.

That's very commendable for her and she has all good intentions I agree.

But others are being mercenary and few of them are even doffing a hat towards charity.

Very sadly, I have just heard from Sophia who tells me the bidder has turned out to be a hoaxer and even more distressing is that she has not raised any funds for Invictus!

I do not know how the people concerned can sleep at night.

Couldn't she offer it to the underbidders?

Completely predictable, I'm afraid. There are hundreds of these torches, that much money for one was never going to be real.

As for "disgraceful" to sell it... wha!? These people were nominated for their good works and community spirit, they've *earned* the right to be part of it. They then had the opportunity to BUY the torch they used if they wish. What they choose to do with any money they manage to get from selling it is entirely up to them. It's a piece of sports memorabilia, nothing more.
