    Default Car Insurance UK

Ok ppl been busy so not been on forums, need advice as im not too sure ive been given correct info.

I already have a car insured with swinton, I wanted to get a 2nd car but swinton claim I cannot use my existing no claims on a 2nd car insurance and will have to start all over again. I was quoted for VW convertable which in all honesty is fairly old "N" reg costing around £600, Insurance wanted me to pay £1300 for Full comp with legal all the stuff I always get,

Apart from Admiral or whoever it is, who do multi car, is this right that if I get another car I cant use my existing no claims of 8 years.

Please remember im in the UK

    Hope everyones good

I think MoreThan will do that. The best thing about Morethan is the efficiency when I made a claim which is, after all, the point of insurance!

HI Sparrer , £1300 for a £600 car does not make sense....I would suggest 3rd party , fire , and theft....no sense in throwing money away......papa.

Oh dont worry im not going to buy the car Insurance is more than the damn car lol. Thing is I cant see how they cant still use my no claims bonus on a 2nd car. Its stupid they claim I have to start over again for the 2nd car and keep my no claims for the car I use all the time. Cant see it somehow.

Strangely sometimes Third party fire & theft costs more than fully comp. Car insurance is truly a black art.

I think you've been misinformed.Strangely enough I've just been getting quotes for my van.I've found a better deal than my existing one & they said they'd send a confirmation of no claims in case I needed it.So it seems it is transferrable.

Its ridiculous, I have my daughter 25 & learner on my small Suzuki Alto, and the NCB is on that one, soon as I try to get another car solely for me I am told I have to restart my NCB as it can only be used on one car, so if I transfer the NCB from my suzuki to a cabriolet vw then the Insurance goes up as my daughter is practising in the Suzuki. Terrible it is. They must think at my age 47 im some kind of kid racer, dont think so somehow !

Morning Sparrer , you have answered your own problem , do you really expect a company to insure a learner in suzuki alto and a VW cabriolet for the same rate...even I know the VW is going to cost more....cmon , behave yourself....life just does not work that way......sorry..........papa. ( altered because I put VK instead of VW)
