Brainstorming for YDC 100 !!!

I think theming the items is very limiting - I try to find things people might actually want - I just thought the publicity could be Olympic themed.

How about

people try getting 100 items between them, but each item must have been made in the last 100 years and 1 item for each year

So I could say i will do the years 1914 and 1979, others add to this thread saying what year they could do. Then on YDC 100 people could list as YDC100 1912 1913 etc would make a rather fascinating view and could get more folks in to buy.

I would also like YDC100 to run longer than the 4 days (7 days as a 1 off)

Then you'd be looking at sort of Antiques/collectors items Sarah. Not many could afford to part with that kind of thing for charity. I like the idea of the Centenary YDC running longer though.

I'm not indifferent / hostile, I was really miffed when we didn't get tickets. I love the Olympics it's just the organisation of it all that's been a shambles IMO. I do however think that it might be hard to base a YDC entirely on a sporting theme unless you had something else in mind?

Shambles isn't the word for it, Becky. What happened to CHOICE? People are paying hundreds (if not thousands) of pounds to let the organisers tell THEM which events they will watch! Then again, this "ticket lottery" ensures that the less popular events will not have empty arenas. It's a bit crazy really when people were able to go on the internet and book whichever event they actually WANTED without any problems! Not through the UK site I hasten to add. I'm quite happy to sit and watch what I CHOOSE on the telly in the comfort of my ain wee hoose. (Not that I could afford to go anyway - let's not kid ourselves Nance!)
