The usual set-up is a USB cable from camera to PC, so as long as you have that cable and your PC isn't out of the ark (and has a USB port or six) you should be fine. Failing that, most cameras use some sort of memory card and you can get memory card readers... but they tend to be USB too.
The digital camera will come with a disc to load on to the computer which will have instructions how to get the best from your digital camera. The camera will have a lead to plug into your computer to download pictures from your camera. Also the photos are stored on a small card in the digital camera. Thia card can be taken out of the camera and slotted into the computer for the pictures to be downloaded if you do not have a lead.
It would probably be best if you can ask the help of someone who has a camera and a computer to show you. Salesmen of cameras will also be very helpful.
