    Aww pet, really sympathise.
This lurgy has knocked me out for well over a week.
Apart from the coughing, there is a tiredness and lethargy that cannot be shaken off easily.
I suggest plenty of hot drinks - pour recently boiled water (not boiling) over several slices of fresh lemon in a mug.
Add honey to taste. Very soothing.
If it cured a cough I would be a millionaire - there is absolutely nothing that will 'cure' a cough.
Mixtures, pastilles, sweets and lozenges all help, but are not cures.
Coughs are stubborn, and will not clear off until they are ready to do so!
Keep warm, rest and let nature take it's course.
    Big hugs to you (((((xxx)))))

Painkillers, decongestants if necessary, keep your fluids up, lots of sleep.

Best stuff I have found 'over the counter' is Cavonia Throat Spray. Good for sore throats and coughs.

Think you have to get it from a pharmacy, so it won't be on the supermarket shelves.

I can't take cough syrup as it makes my heart race so doctor reccommended wine as it has less alcohol than the syrup. One tablespoon will do it for me as I am not a drinker and do not like the taste of it. What I use is blackberry and 5% alcohol and the syrup was 15%.
