I noticed it about a week ago - I think that it is response to people on the forum asking about the total monetary value of auctions on eBid and the perception that there is no bidding on auctions.

I saw it 2 or 3 weeks ago.

I think its great, it gives a bit of excitement and shows there is bidding activity etc.
All it needs is the total number value sold yesterday.
