Have to agree with Kim , it is the taking part . it is the winning ...even if they gave half a dozen buddy points....the whole excercise is more for fun ,rather than getting some large prize.....just like the guess the weight , by Craig..........papa.

Yes if they spent that money attracting more buyers, then we would all be better off and people would double and treble their listings.

You could also say that with 5 million listings "we" should be selling more stuff so they should be making more fv fees......

Perhaps just a set prize of GBP 1,000 for every such milestone. That would still be a very nice prize for the recipient.

And of course it needs a bit of publicity so that people know there is a prize so they are encouraged to list more stuff !

It has just been a bit of an "event" at each milestone - events seem to have been a bit few and far between lately. Personally I found the eBid cookbook and the bonny baby competition (to name but two) just as interesting and as much fun - but at least something was happening every now and again to bring the community together. If nothing was planned for 5,000,000 then I think it should have been said and why ask for ideas if they weren't needed?? Clarity would have headed off this kind of discussion taking place...

They asked for ideas, but presumably didn't get any that impressed them. I don't agree that "we're not giving you anything for XYZ" would be a good idea; I simply don't feel it needed saying. If a small minority of an already small minority assumed they might get something, well I suppose they were mistaken (so far). I'm usually a big believer in communicate, communicate, but I don't see the need here at all. They did something a couple of times, they didn't make a lifetime pledge.

    LOL! Make mine a Ferrari.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

I have never assumed I would get anything if you are referring to me as the small minority... and there is no-one who understands being a small minority on eBid better than I...

er... no. I think "you" would have served if I meant "you". I'm just guessing that the numbers would break down as a percentage who read the forums and know about the previous prizes, then a percentage of that body would maybe think there would be a prize this time even though it wasn't announced - but not most, probably, which leaves... a small minority. Just means exactly that. No fingers being pointed. Please don't assume that if I don't agree with you about something I am somehow having a go, I'm simply expressing *my* view - it may not be right (I make no claims to omnipotence!), it's just how I see it, and it's definitely not personal.

‘’Pink’’ where is your all ‘’heavy’’ books…?...did somebody bring ‘’a truck’’ and buy it all or…?....as I can see you still have nice items for sale a little big but that’s ok, but ‘’Royal Mail’’ watching you and that mean postal rates will go up again…...

P.S. I advice you if rates go up you can always deliver your items door to door with you own hands...it is much cheaper...right..?......

If there had been a prize up for grabs - I seem to recall gazza saying that the system had been clogged up with a guy listing about 150,000 items or so - when the site was only 14,000 short of the 5 mill - so I guess that guy would have won it.
