Thread: Posting to the USA - CN22 Customs declarations

Default Posting to the USA - CN22 Customs declarations

    Hello all,

I have recently started selling to the USA.

I just want to check, I'm a bit worried im doing the customs forms wrong as I've never been told how to do them etc.

    I am ticking GIFT
I am writing a generic description ie: "Action Figures" or "Soft Toy"
I am writing the weight in kg
    I am signing and dating.

I have not been putting a value, because I've been sending as gift. (This isnt expensive items, maybe from £10 to £30 max)

Do you think that will be OK, I am dreading it getting stuck in customs

Let me know SELLERFRIENDS thank you

The Irish system may be different to the UK but I have questions for you. If you are selling items ? then they must be classified as Merchandise and the value must be included. Your address must also be filled in. Otherwise you are filling in the form correctly.

ticking the gift box is not right as you are selling the item. So it is not a gift.

Agree with the above, ticking the gift box unless the item is a gift (i.e. free to the other party) is not a good idea. State merchandise and the value of the item.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Affirmative, and noted. Next ones will be declared as commercial with values.

But apart from that - Anything else I need to do?

    Thanks all for your input.

PS there is nowhere to fill in my address on the CN22 although my address as sender is on the package.

I'm not familiar with the UK CN22 but the rules behind them are usually the same(ish). Here a view of the Irish one just in case anyone is interested.
