Was there a lot less fireworks this year? Seems to me people didn't buy many.

Have to say I thought the same.. in previous years fireworks would be going off for at least a week before the night and come the glorious night itself it seemed to go on for ages.
Round where I live there were some going off between 6.30 and 7.30 and that was it by 8pm not a sound.. perhaps people now go to more organised displays than do garden bonfire parties.
Well my garden is strewn with the remains of my surrounding neighbours fireworks. Bits of cardboard and plastic everywhere.
They reckon people are hard up - but they clearly still have money to burn (literally).
There still going on around here, all that money going up in smoke
Life is serious but taking it too seriously robs you of
happiness, fun and productivity
There were plenty around here, didn't sound like home variety either, some of the booms really shook the ground.
Now that you mention it, it has been quieter overall, But then again I think the fireworks are moving towards new year celebrations.
It's been an increasing trend since the millenium.
We haven't had any for years. Waste of money... could eat for a year on what some ppl spend on fireworks.
If they abolished the event, then think of all those hedge pigs. We'd be knee deep in the spiny critters.
I remember everything, even what happened tomorrow.

Meet my avatar: Qu the engineer and enchanter. Who else could invent the armour piercing rabbit (can dig holes through anything) and the duck gun (fires rubber ducks)?
Join me on eBid here.
God bless eBid and all who sale in her!
Being the MOG that I am, I think the sale of fireworks to the public should be banned. If you want fireworks then go to a properly organised and licensed event.
It would be cheaper for families.
They would have a better event.
The anti-social aspect of fireworks in public would be removed.
It would be a lot safer.
It would all be over within a couple of days of the 5th. (instead of going on into New Year).
Firework makers would still make their money (selling bigger and better fireworks).
Why goverment still think it acceptable to allow kids access to explosives mystifies me.
(Mind you...my elder brother, and his mate, used to make their own pipe bombs when they were kids)
