Thread: setting up new listing

  1. #1

    Default setting up new listing

    Hi,
I haven't listed here for a long time and am finding many changes.
I'm trying to set up a new listing but keep getting the message that the category must be different from the main catergory -
    which I don't understand.
Any helpful soul out there able to help please?

oh dear, and now I can't even find the listing I saved - definitely having a "senior" morning here!

Do they mean you need to put it in a main cat: and then in a sub one?
I can't help with finding your listing as I have never saved on, I always get mad and scrap it, I haven't got the best temper in the world at the moment

Hi Buttons & bows - good to see you are still here!
Have to admit to getting rather short tempered myself now - can't find where the flamming saved listing is so can't get back to the message to be more precise.
I'd forgotten what a frustrating site this is but I know I got used to it before so must keep trying ......

(who's snarling - goodness was that me!)

I think if you have a category with sub cats. you have to choose which sub category you want the item in.
You can't put it in the main category.
    eg. books- history
    books- fiction
If you try to put it in 'books' the system wants to know what sort of book it is
    Hope this helps

    Hi gyronny,
Yes that's what I thought I had done - such a long time since I listed that it may have changed and I'm just being dim.
Will try setting up another new listing and see where I get to this time - could do with better onscreen instructions for dumbos like me.

listings will be saved in your defaults. If you get up a listing page and the click on populate you'll be able to see what is saved there
And it's good to see you back

Yes it must be you Ruth as I was snarling earlier but have stopped now.
Nice to see you back, I hope you sort your listing out without grinding your teeth down too much

hey meebo - just look at the number of posts you are up to now - now that's impressive!
finally found my saved listing, but this is the message I get when I try to list it
"Extra category must be different than the main category, please go back and make corrections."
These are only 2 boxes, one shows the shop I want to stock and the other the category it should be listed under, which I've completed.
    Feeling pretty dumb here
