Why Does This Listing Have Weird Text .. HELP!

Admin claim to be sorting out the problems on listings that existed before they made changes to handle foreign characters better. But, as they can't even fix their own emails they are sending out, I wouldn't hold my breath. They only fix seems to be to edit each listing individually, Bulk Edit is of no use, as it doesn't recognise the weird characters - insisting you haven't entered anything to replace.

I was reading your forum thread and since you had a problem, that was the same or similar as my own, I copied a link to your thread, which I was going to save until this problem was resolved. It occured to me that the support people might be too busy to notify us all individually, as there are probably thousands of us that have this problem.

I checked my listings this morning (Monday Oct. 24th) and they seem to be completely fixed, even a closed listing that sold, and I had planned to re-list when this problem went away. I also checked the original problem of disappearing text in the description editor, when using the "list similar" link, and it also was okay!

I'm also contacting you directly thru this site, in case you are too busy to return to your forum thread and look there. So I've tagged you and now you're it, so pass this info on to the next person you know who has this problem, to let them know that they seem to have the problem resolved.

I think this is a great community, and everyone seems to want to be helpful, when newbees or others have a problem. Thanks to all you mentors out there in cyberspace.

At the bottom, where the copyright notice was, the div elements are totally screwed.

Listings I had previously edited to replace the single copyright character with © seem to have survived intact. Example: http://uk.ebid.net/for-sale/pin-art-...y-47894463.htm

Looks like I have some work on my hands - if I can be bothered.

Regarding the previous, it may be the other way around. The ones I edited to © could be the ones that have been screwed.

Astral, if you have a backup of your items can you run a ninja upload with "overwrite", this should fix the descriptions and won't start any new auctions that aren't already running. We need to check into the problem with the copyright sign.

I can fix my own listings, but they will not be as they were at the time you savaged them - so may not assist you in tracking the problem. My backup pre-dates the online edits I made to replace some listing's copyright characters with © - in order to fix the spurious character issue. A pity I never got around to doing all of them, as that would maybe have narrowed the problem down a bit. I'm not sure which ones I did do, and so don't know if the damage has been done to the 'fixed' or 'unfixed' listings.

The reason my backup is slightly dated is due to the outstanding issue at http://www.ebid.net/forums/showthrea...=1#post1377844, where the export of listing data is incorrect.

There is also the issue with Ninja Lister http://www.ebid.net/forums/showthrea...=1#post1377846, that makes trying to edit exported listings a pain, as it refuses to accepts MPNs.
