Default OK, so I made a mistake...

.. and failed to edit the title of a listing when I "listed similar" so both listings are deleted. It was two.. they were actually different items. Couldn't they be closed instead of deleted? I now have to work out which one was the error (one was right) and recreate the whole listing. It's a pain. I'm hardly a serious offender in this area. I made a mistake and the punishment is a bit severe.

I agree, it is a bit harsh and it might have put me off the site if it had happened to me when I was starting off here. I wouldn't like any listings removed by admin to just end up in my unsold tab because it would be too easy to relist them without thinking but a warning on logging in with a link to removed items would be very helpful.

If the correct one has relisted at least once you can search closed listings for the title and relist from there. If not, I'm sure other people have had admin reinstate listings that have been deleted so they must still be available somewhere.

I think there should be a holding tank, in addition to running, sold, unsold so that "dodgy" listings are sent there for the seller to sort out. If a seller repeatedly offends they get suspended and investigated and told what they're doing wrong, if it's an occasional hiccough they just have to fix it and relaunch. Easy enough to keep track of who pushes their luck!

I only started the listings today, sadly. Had 4 magazines to list - different issues - hit "list similar" and once forgot to edit the title after editing everything else.

I like the holding tank idea.

Very harsh Madelaine, especially when there are people listing absolutely loads of items that are exactly the same. These fill page after page and so virtually hide the odd listing by those who follow the rules.

Afraid the same thing happened to me twice when I was listing here - so easy to make a mistake and the punishment is quite severe....

I think this is a brilliant idea!
If the item appears in a suspense area, at least you might work out why if it is there and change the item or even de list it, and if you can't work it out, you could be educated by asking ebid or the forum. If it is in a suspense area. at least then you haven't lost the time and effort of listing the item.

I like this idea. Surely it wouldn't be too difficult to implement.

Unfortunately the ones who use bulk upload & RunTilSold still seem to get away with it, & have done so for a long time. Very large bulk uploads don't seem to go through the checks & as the items don't repost they are not picked up during the reposting process.

A separate page (Holding Tank) is an excellent idea. That would not only alert us when we make a mistake, it would be so much easier to fix the offending listing.

    Love the 'Holding Tank' idea.
