How long did you wait for your first sale?

From first listing to your first sale, how long did you wait? And once the first sale happened, how quickly did your sales increase? I am curious to hear everyones answers so I can build up a picture of how long it COULD take for me so if everyone could get involved that'd be great. If you joined a while ago and have yet to get a sale please also let me know. Good or bad, share it here.

Good question. I can't remember exactly when I made my first sale, (as I joined as a buyer and upgraded to seller+ about six months later), but I can say I've recouped my initial seller+ investment and then some, and I do make semi-regular sales, so as a private individual/hobby seller I'm pleased with that.

Hopefully others will have more info. with regard to dates, etc..

Hi - I joined in March this year and it took me about a month to make my first sale. I then had a few months with reasonable sales however it has dropped off for me in August and September. I am hoping that it will start to pick up again in the run up to Christmas. I am trying to list more to get greater exposure.

From 1st listing to 1st Sale - 2 weeks
Then next sale 2 weeks after that. Then a cluster of sales. Since then, quiet times and busy times - a bit like the stock market really but with an upwards climb as time goes on! Stay in for the longer term !

To be honest I can't see how everyone else's experiences can be an indication for you - there is no general pattern as far as I can see although I do think the getting past the dark glasses icon is important. IMO it's to do with commitment, participation, involvement, trying different things, getting known, taking part in stuff, communicating well and about caring what you are doing. It's a lot of things. Hope this helps.

Cleaver: I wasn't asking for a set in stone time-frame. Just wanted a general idea that's all.

I'm a small private seller so I'm in no real rush to make money. I do however love selling on auction sites. I love the entire process. Putting the ads on, putting effort into each and every one of them, getting the sales, sending the stuff, chatting to the customers yadda yadda yadda. I very much care about what I do and I feel (hope) that comes across well to my customers because I appreciate every last one of them (apart from the non-payers and scammers of course but there's so few of them around).

So right now I am trying to get my name out there, get to know all you guys a bit better and hopefully the first sale wont be too far away.

Just received 2 green ticks!!!!, my first sales.WooooHooo!!...I Joined on July 6th, so just under 3 months...I generally list around 20 - 80 (currently 50) items.....so it does and WILL happen for you...just hang on in there!!! Best of luck to one and all...
