    Default Surface mail

I knew there was a reason why I bothered to include surface mail as an option on my listings.

After years of posting, I have finally posted my first set of heavy books by surface mail to Australia. Should arrive in the second half of October.

    Wow, that's slow!

I can't complain about anything I have shipped International. Usually about 2 weeks max and items arrives (usually guitars or cymbals) anywhere from Spain to Australia, Brazil, Russia, Czech Republic and all over the world no issues yet knock wood.
Did have one (still do actually) where the customer refused the package as he wanted me to mark as a gift with zero value...9 months later the guitar is still sitting in German Customs even though German Customs rules state if the package isn't claimed within 60 days it gets returned to sender I haven't seen it yet.

Yes, congrats. Books to Australia had to cost an arm and a leg to ship.

thats really good I have always been leery of surface mail after my earliest days of online auctions as it can take a long time and in the meantime people waiting get angry (having chosen surface mail with the stated longer delivery time of course......)

I've sent items surfacemail to Australia, with no problems, buyers there seem to understand about waiting times,
but I've had hassle from both US & Canadian buyers after a couple of weeks,
although I stated in my listings that surfacemail can take 5 to 8 weeks to arrive,
hence I no longer offer it.

Not my experience! I've had at least two negs over this (although one buyer did edit when I explained). I'd say use with extreme caution and really spell out the dellay (60 days for delivery and that's a 'target').

I don't think there's many ships that can go from the U.K. to Australia in two weeks.

A real fast one! Sorry I overlooked the "Surface Mail" part, forgive me.
