Thread: How to revise postage charged

  1. #1

Default How to revise postage charged

I have sold an item and did not charge enough postage. I have the item priced very competitively so I cannot make up the shipping loss on the sale of the item.

Question ~ how do I revise the shipping charge once an item has sold? Do I need to end the listing and relist? FeeBay would allow changes to shipping charges after items had sold.

    Thanks!

Those of us in the U.S. are lucky . . . eBid has provided us with the calculated shipping function. My shipping charge is almost always very close to the correct amount. I have a stack of boxes of various sizes filled with the packing material. I weigh the item and the package before I list and add the appropriate amount for packaging, handling, and insurance on higher-priced items.

It works for both U.S. and overseas shipping. In the rare cases where the amount does come out wrong, I refund the customer if the difference is more than $1.00 too high, and eat it if I didn't charge enough.

If you really can't afford to absorb the loss, the only thing I can suggest is to contact the buyer. The email address will be in your Sold Items page.

Unfortunately the "problem" you might also get in this case is that having quoted postage in the listing the buyer might think you are "trying it on" and would be well within their rights to cancel the sale and if they so feel like it leave you a negative

Yes you’re right ‘’Nigel’’ I think he going to cut price from original shipping but he try to RAISE shipping price…....well I just say before anybody list own items for sale he need to check carefully everything what he write and for shipping price too…if you do otherwise is just bad business…and by the way ‘’Nigel’’ how are you…? I hope you ok and I hope your health is ok too…a less this stuff across U.K. Finally stopped…’’mad people’’…simple as that……...

I picked up my Polish from my Father who spent many years travelling in Poland with his job, who in turn picked up the odd word from the people he meet there, so not only is my Polish limited it is also second hand :-)

Can anyone answer my original question ~ can the postage amount in a listing be changed once an item has sold? This is for a listing were I have more than one of that particular item available in the same listing. I would not ask the buyer for additional postage once an item has sold but I need to revise the shipping amount for the additional items (same product) that are still listed. "Fee bay" allows for revisions to the item price and postage amounts for a listing that has multiple items available in the same listing. Thank you.
