Thread: pay pal

  1. #1

    Default pay pal

ok, Im brand spanking new and just put my first object for bid. I'm coming over from ebay.

I use paypal but I have no idea where to list my paypal account.

So if someone purchases the item, what happens?

Ive searched everywhere and have no idea where to put it, Ebid isnt even asking me for it.

    any ideas?

You need to be a "seller +" type of eBid account holder to have integrated PayPal payments available.

Or you can run your item as a Platinum Auction at a small fee this also gives you a Paypal integrated payment option.

Good catch. I missed that they only had a Seller account.

    Hi all

Thanks for the response. But how does one get paid?

You can send your customer an invoice from your PayPal account.

Hi. I'm new to eBid. Re 'PayPal' method. I may be wrong but I'm led to believe that if payment is made through PayPal & the item is then sent to the buyer & the item in question is a 'designer' brand, the buyer could be a scammer & inform PayPal that the item is a fake (if there isn't a receipt) & PayPal will refund the money & inform the buyer that they can keep the item?
Now i realise that this protects the buyer BUT if the item is real not fake (but no guarantee can be given), then it's the seller who is out of pocket!
    Any views/comments on this predicament?

Thats a good question. I would always include any proof of authenticity - reciept, original packet, certficates, if possible.

Having said that, some time ago I sold a Chanel scarf for the theatre group. It had been donated to us second hand, but wasnt of use to us, as too modern for any of the shows we do. So, when I listed it for sale, I said upfront exactly how I/we had come by the scarf, that it was sold as seen, because this was as much as we knew about it.
I listed it as a Chanel scarf, and by as much Googling as I could do, the pattern of the scarf was genuine, and the fabric did feel "expensive" to the hand. The listing also gave the option of "return for refund if the buyer did not feel item as described". That was as much as I could do to cover my backside. And the sale went through without a hitch and raised a fair bit for the group too.

In a nutshell, be upfront and honest, state how you got it, why no reciept/ etc, and offer that return for refund if buyer not happy. Thats the safest way to put such a sale up, in my opinion.
