HELP! Trying to make labels, and getting wierd message

I've made labels on Word many times....but today, when trying to do a mailing list of labels for hubby, I get to the point of having the label size selected, then selecting the XL database where the names are, and when I click to download, I come up with another new box that asks if I want table, views, system table, or something else....no matter what I click, it tells me that it cannot connect to the data. I've put the XL spreadsheet in different places, and regardless, I can't get it to work, even on hubby's computer.

I'm not doing anything different than normal, so am really confused about the issue.............any ideas??

That is weird. Unfortunately, as I don't use XL, I'm not sure what's going on, (except maybe the eBid gremlins are at work again).

Maybe you've been receiving automatic updates to your Windows and Word and Excel. There is a choice to receive or not receive them (don't ask me right now where it is). There might have been an enhancement that changed how labels work. Just a possibility.

I do labels in the old fossil WordPerfect. Have never mastered them in Microsoft products.

In desperation, you could go back to a reset point well before when you noticed this change.

I go into label option on word it's quite easy as they have a list of lables to choice from

TexasAda - I think you must be right.....I will have to go see when I put a reset point on........it wouldn't change anything I've put on since, would it, like photos and documents? I think that is just to change system settings. I hope I hope I hope.

Shezz....thanks...yes, that's where I do it....put on the wizard and follow step by step. It's just changed from the way I always did it by adding another step, from which none of the choices work.

I did finally manage to go to the 3rd computer, hubby's work one, figure out labels on Windows 7, which isn't as intuitive as the one I used, then did a copy on each page of labels, and emailed 9 pages worth to myself. Then printed page by page. oy. I have to figure something out before it's time to do it for the next newsletter!!

No problem - any questions about it gimme a yell - I still use it for all my address labels - take them directly from invoices in seconds.

Thanks...I downloaded it, went in, and started fumbling my way around. Got a label set up and went to import from my Xcel file....but got error msg 4 - seems it won't read it.

I'm having a hard time believing there is something wrong with the file, as it's the one we always use, with only some minor changes of names or address......any idea? I can't find what error 4 means. No rush on this, as I do have them done for this month (whew!....glad I had my BP checked this morning at the Dr.BEFORE I started this prcess!! lol)
