I still don't understand where the security comes in, ok it says that every so often you will be asked to enter your pin number, but what about all the times I or anyone can scan my card
just like that

They seem to me to be taking the approach that very little fraud is for such low values, so they are making low value transactions faster and easier - possibly to move people away from cash even more (though in my experience they hardly need encouraging, I've taken cards for under £2.00). As long as the bank is picking up the tab if it goes wrong, I don't see the problem. If they are saying *you* will be responsible for small losses, that's different, but you don't say they are.
Hi Kim
I have'nt read anywhere where it says who will be responsible, I know it is my responsiblity to keep my card safe, but things do happen
I had a weekly transaction taken out of my bank for a month paying for an oyster card think thats a train ticket purchased via the internet, (before i done online banking so I only found out when i got my monthly statement in) my first thought was how the heck do I prove I never purchased it, i still had my card was'nt lost, i drive to work everyday so don't have a need for a weekly ttain ticket, I did however get my money back eventually,
it' does'nt say how many transactions a day,
I'm just not sure about this

I can understand not being sure, they don't seem to have made a very good job of explaining it. I just think it might turn out to be an improvement.I haven't had anything from my banks about it so far, so I can only go on what you've said, so I'm not betting my life either way.

One of the banks has been trailing this with ads on TV for quite a while, the one with the guy on a roller coaster. Not sure which bank though. Shows how much the ad brings to mind the branding!
I'm not a great fan of debit cards but have had to go over to one recently, one of the places I use regularly will now only accept them, no cash, no credit cards, if they wern't so useful to me I would have gone elsewhere.
I don't watch much commercial TV so rarely see ads, but I did see a roller coaster the other day, then it came up as a quiz question of all things. We got it wrongbut I think the answer was Barclaycard or Lloyds. Probably one of those is right, and one is what we said. But they might both be wrong. We didn't win the quiz. Big shock.
