What you do not believe that "we are all in this together" that the government keep spouting?

If you are inferring that the current government is responsible for the decline in businesses in the town....I'm afraid it started long before the current lot got in. It is just a continuing trend. Not helped by local government - who have currently shut off one of the major business areas (which includes the market area) to pedestrianise it. By the time it is reopened most of the businesses will have gone bust.

A bit like eBid. To get businesses you need the customers to buy their goods, to get the customers you need the businesses selling the goods.

No I don't think they caused it, but I also do not believe they will fix it for the common man/woman and it really cheeses me off that they are doing nothing to prevent those that did cause it from doing the same thing again.
