Default I need a little advice about postage...

I have sold an item on the other side, and the buyer has an address in China. Their feedback is all positive and they have paid by Paypal.

What I need to know is what is the best way to post to China. Should I use International signed for? And does that mean I have proof of them receiving the package? If it goes astray can I claim from RM?

I haven't mailed to China before so would someone give me some pointers.

I have recently noticed that the international sighned for tracking with RM ends when it leaves the country. I don't know what happens after that, so I am asking myself: is it worth it?

You are right Meebo. International Signed for only tracks up to leaving the UK. I posted to US 2 days ago & was advised it was better to go Airsure - it is tracked right up to delivery address with that. (so I was told)

You are absolutely right again Meebo. My items were rare & collectable so price was justified in this case.

I think ISF you get a sig that is used for a paypal claim and airsure you don't get the signature that is required by paypal I always use international signed for as you still get the signature even though the tracking stops at UK.

You can get confirmation of delivery for Airsure though (from Royal Mail website).

Yes I know but you have to have a signature and was told by our post office you don't get one with airsure, I can't see why they can't do one service that does both, I mean come on it costs enough.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. It's a disgrace.

Ditto, I always use international signed for and, touch wood, have never lost an overseas parcel yet in all my years of selling even to remote parts of Africa and South America. I think that the fact that it has to be signed for deters any light fingered posties overseas !
I've posted to China before over on the other side using international signed for with no problems.
