Thread: eBid NEEDS A MOBILE APP!

  1. #1

Default eBid NEEDS A MOBILE APP!

Among a ton of other things Id like to see:
-Much more exposure/advertising: I had to go looking for ebay alternatives and ebid was always ranked the next best. Problem with that is Id still never heard of this place and if I havent, millions havent. Exposure should be the number one issue being addressed by the owners of this site.

-Aside from just much more general exposure, ebid definitely needs a mobile app. This should have been done a year or two ago in my opinion and this along with wide exposure would catapult this site to what Id like to see it become. Ebay needs some actual comptetion to make them shape up a bit.

I think Ebid are resigned to the fact that they cannot compete with Ebay now, thats why we dont see any promotion/advertising from Ebid.. Why spend/waste money on advertising when you can not only earn a good income, but also get free advertising from disgruntled ebay sellers and ebid sellers trying to promote their stores.

I think Ebid will have its day soon. The more ebay raises its fees and squeezes its sellers, the more exposure Ebid will get.

    I agree with Aluminium.
We'd all like more sales and more buyers on ebid.

But it is the owners business, and maybe they have a plan of slow steady growth.
I hope they stay privately owned and away from corporate influence.

I think that one day ebid may be come popular through the viral method, and when sellers stop listing on ebay.

eBid seems to go for a growth rate they can cope with, opposed to a massive rise they likely couldn't and would bring them down (as has happened to other sites).

Aside from just much more general exposure, ebid definitely needs a mobile app.
I seem to recall seeing a statement that such was being worked on (I can't recall where that was though). Based on past projects I'm not holding my breath though.

Ebay needs some actual comptetion to make them shape up a bit.
So you want eBid to make the expenditure to become a concern to eBay, so that eBay changes their ways, so that eBay becomes a place you want to return to?

I agree on this and hope the guys think about it, It would be useful to have an app for iphones, maybe call it eBid for mobile, just think of the possibility of new sellers and buyers signing up via their iphones.

I wonder how many people really use ebay's mobile app ?

I'd prefer to see the API first, then Best Offer,

Whilst I personally would like to see an eBid app, I think that realistically it is unlikely to happen for some time. There are two main smartphone app operating systems (Apple's iOS and Google's Android) so there would really need to be two apps.

The apps would need to be updated, and submitted to Apple/Google for approval every time this site was changed. I think we all know how many times categories get added on here, so keeping the apps up to date would, I suspect, be a full time job.

eBids owners seem to be kept busy running and working on the main site so are unlikely to be able to spend the time on developing and maintaining the app themselves.

I also don't think other people would be able to provide an app without the long awaited release of the API and even then I wonder if they would find any income it provided would, at the present time, cover their costs.

Happily the main site appears to work quickly and efficiently on both smart phones and tablet devices
My posts only state my own opinions, unless I've stolen them from someone else
