Our Alexa rating is rissing steadily !

If I understand how Alexa works, its not exactly statistically accurate by any stretch. I suspect if eBid really wanted site visits to take off, they would figure out a way to buy the www.ebid.com domain and 86 it. I suspect a huge amount of traffic still never reaches its proper destination (here at www.ebid.net) simply because a search on Google often times dumps the surfer in the wrong domain.

I never said that Alexa is statistically accurate. Nohting on the web is.
But it does give a fairly good guide, especially as the other two rating sites have roughly similar results.

If ebid really wanted to buy the www.ebid.com domain I imagine they would contact the owners of that site and ask them how much they want for it.

Although Alexa only reflects the browsing habits of those with the extension installed, there are still
those who take notice of the trends - including Advertisers.
And the ratings help to improve eBid's exposure.

Well thanks for trying mewgoods. I'm sorry to hear you had difficulties.
Some have (in the past more so) had issues, but that can be true of all sorts of programs.

Are you running Internet Explorer or Firefox ?

Yes - I was using Internet Explorer. It was weird - my browser sessions were running very slowly, I had to keep killing them and restarting and I would also find that when I switched from one tab to another, the previous session would remain and I would not see the session I had switched to, e.g. when switching from facebook -> ebid the facebook page would be visible and the toolbar would have become corrupt. After having to kill my sessions repeatedly I got fed up and uninstalled. No problems since then so looks like it must have been the toolbar.

Does it work fine with Firefox? If so, I could try it with that and use Firefox for eBid.

Marion, I use Firefox and I don't have any problems with the Alexa add on.
With Firefox, the add on is small and it sits on the 'Status Bar'. In other words it's not an actual 'Tool Bar' like most.
It doesn't sit along the top as an actual 'Bar' is what I mean.
So maybe there's a difference, and the Firefox version might not cause you problems.

Marion, I think Steve means that on Firefox the Alexa tool bar may NOT cause you problems.
Pleased that you are thinking of trying Firffox. I think you will like it.
It is now much more popular than IE by computer enthusiasts.
I have been using Firefox for about 5 years now.
You can still go back to IE if ever you wanted to.

Well…after all I know what NOT cause for anybody problem and own computer is NOT going to crash or become slow…and that is ‘’more listing any kind of items on eBid’’…...a sample Alexa rating ‘’7897’’ is not going to help much this site but ‘’7897’’ Millions of listed item is much better number….and a sample 100 or more millions listed item that’s I talking about because buyers don’t buy from Alexa because this is only numbers and nothing to buy behind that but with ‘’my’’ numbers couple millions more items or even a 100 millions behind that number buyers will see ‘’items’’…In the end one more sample ‘’what if eBay go down to 4-5 millions listed item’’ what anybody thinks will buyers visit this site and buy that often like now or like before? I guess not…So here we go in that case not even ‘’God together with Alexa will help eBay after that….AMEN……....

P.S. Everybody get busy and get list item instead ‘’counting empty numbers’’…Steve my men I see you list some of new items...that's good very good......I hope you ok Steve I wish you good luck and good health...be good...Steve.......
